Because of some great adoptions, space was available in our Pet Adoption Facility so the Intake Team headed to the county shelter to rescue. Shelby (formerly Sugar) was on the “Long Timer” list which put her in jeopardy of being euthanized the next time space was needed in the county shelter. Most likely the public had passed Shelby by because she had cherry eyes (a small red bump in the corner of the eye). Though treatable with topical eye medications and/or surgery, most people won’t adopt a dog from a county shelter with an existing health condition. Our Intake Team recognized that Shelby has too much love and desire for companionship to be euthanized for a treatable condition! Shelby will receive necessary treatment by Our Pal’s Place so she can find her forever person and home!
