GOOD IN A HOME WITH
Good with other dogs, Good with children
After a busy weekend of rescuing from the kill list at the county shelter on Saturday and getting a litter of pups out of a trailer park on Sunday, a Cobb County Shelter supervisor called Monday morning stating, “One of your dogs named Jane was owner surrendered to us last night”. What?! Using the microchip number, we were able to conclude “Jane” was formerly Daphne at O.P.P. One of our Intake Team members immediately left for the county shelter to get Jane out and to the safety of O.P.P. The name and address on Jane’s collar ID tag matched the adopter’s information in our system. Monday evening, a call was placed to Jane’s person asking the generic question of if he had Jane or knew where she was. His response with a lot of profanity was he had taken her to the county shelter. Being the question was non-confrontational and with his immediate use of profanity suggested the home we adopted her into in 2019 had gone south. Just look at the bottom picture of Jane asleep with her person not long after her adoption … it had been a good home. The last question asked was why did he not return her to O.P.P. as stated in the adoption contract. His response was “why should I?“
Jane had obviously been mistreated based on her cowering behavior and fear of men upon reentering O.P.P. Her name was changed to Daphne Jane trying to keep with the name she knew but introducing something new since “Jane” was now associated with bad. With the love and patience of O.P.P. volunteers, Daphne Jane regained her self-confidence and relaxed into knowing she is now safe.
Daphne Jane loves human companionship, leisurely walks and running the yard with fellow dogs looking for their forever home. Only the best home will be good enough for our sweet girl!
