The county shelter was full and euthanizing for space. Our Pal’s Place was alerted and our Intake Team scurried to the county shelter, received the kill list and went to work meeting all who were listed. Otis was on the list merely because he fell in the date range that was being euthanized. Upon approaching Otis’ cell, we found a dog so stressed in the overcrowded, loud environment that he was urinating on himself. Once out of his cell and into the “bonding room”, Otis immediately calmed down and buried his head in an Intake Team Member’s lap. He just needed out of the shelter. At O.P.P., Otis has decompressed into a fun-loving guy who adores attention and pleasing his human friends. He quickly remembered house-training, polite sitting and tail-wagging … something he obviously was too stressed to do in the county shelter. Whoever is lucky enough to adopt Otis will be gaining a loyal, loving companion for life!
