One morning before our youth summer camp began, a dog was seen crossing Canton Road near our Rescue & Pet Adoption Facility. With a lot of help from our business neighbors throughout the day, the dog was finally located in a wooded area to the north of our property. Using everything that we know about dog behavior and body language, our Camp Directors with the assistance of designated Camp Counselors worked to lure the stray out of the woods and into the safety of our Learning Center. Our Camp Directors named her after the goddess, Star.

Cobb County Animal Services was contacted and allowed Our Pal’s Place to house and care for Star during her stray-hold. When no one claimed her, the county released her to our rescue. During this time, we noticed that Star was getting “round”. Having learned the difference between putting on too much weight and being pregnant, we took Star to our veterinarian for examination and began preparations for puppies. We also started questioning if Star had purposefully been abandoned on or around our property due to knowing she was pregnant.

Star was a great mom, but is now ready to find a home of her own! Star is a calm, loving girl who will be a very loyal companion. Star loves to receive attention and go for walks.  Though we haven’t introduced her to a lot of dogs due to being a mom the majority of her time with us, Star has done well with the dogs (and cats) she has met.

Star is a blend of breeds and in part looks like an American English Coonhound.
